Psi vocabulary
Clairaudience: the supposed faculty of
perceiving, as if by hearing, what is inaudible. Clairaudient: derived
adjective.
Clairsentience: perception of what is not normally
perceptible.
Clairvoyance: the faculty of perceiving things
or events independently on distance and time spacing.
Cognition: the mental action or process of
acquiring knowledge and understanding through thought, experience, and the
senses.
Controlled
remote viewing (CRV):
A remote viewing protocol developed by Stanford Research Institute as an
intelligence-gathering method for CIA, DIA, and a number of other US
governmental organizations. The protocol involves the perception of all sorts
of sensory information, not just visual ones.
Déjà
rêvé: a French
expression meaning “already dreamt” and used worldwide for describing a feeling
of having already dreamed the present situation.
Déjà vu: a French expression meaning
“already seen” and used worldwide for describing a feeling of having already
experienced the present situation.
Divination: the practice of seeking knowledge of
the future or the unknown by supernatural means.
Dowsing: biolocation of materials,
objects, and subjects with or without the help of tools, such as dowsing forks,
rods, pendulums, etc. In a broader sense, the technique can be considered as a
variety of clairvoyance and can also be used to obtain answers about
future events.
Extended
remote viewing: a remote
viewing method which unlike CRV does not involve a strict
protocol and is performed in a state of meditative trance or hypnagogic state.
Extrasensory
perception (ESP):
the faculty of perceiving things by means other than the known senses, e.g., by
telepathy or clairvoyance.
Foreboding: a feeling that something bad will
happen; fearful apprehension.
Foreknowledge
(= prescience):
awareness of something before it happens or exists
Forewarn: inform (someone) of a danger or a
possible problem.
Forewarning: an advance warning.
Fortune
telling = prophesying: telling the future.
Ganzfeld
protocol: A
rigorous scientific protocol proving the existence of telepathy.
Intuition: the faculty of gaining direct
knowledge or cognition without evident rational thought and inference.
Lucid
dreaming: dreaming
while retaining consciousness, also allowing one to have precognitive and
clairvoyant experiences.
Magic(k): doing apparently impossible things
by pronouncing special words and performing special rituals. Traditionally,
most paranormal (psi) phenomena have been considered magic.
Near-death
experiences (NDE):
spontaneous OBE during coma or a state of deep sedation.
Oneirology: The study of dreams and their
interpretation.
OOBE,
OBE, out-of-body experience, astral projection: a state in which one's mind separates
from the body and moves freely anywhere in space and time.
Paranormal
= supernatural:
that seems impossible to explain by reason or science.
Precognize,
precognise: To
have, or profess to have, foreknowledge of; to know beforehand.
Precognition: a noun derived from the verb precognize.
Precognitive: an adjective derived from the verb
precognize.
Predict: to say or estimate that a
specified thing will happen in the future or will be a consequence of
something.
Prediction: a noun derived from the verb predict.
Premonition,
premonishment: a
warning, especially one given in advance.
Prescience
=foreknowledge: the
fact of knowing something before it takes place.
Presentiment: a feeling that something will or is
about to happen.
Prophecy: a message that is claimed by a prophet
to have been communicated to him/her by a deity.
Psi: the unknown factor in extrasensory
perception and psychokinesis experiences that is not yet explained
by known physical or biological mechanisms. Often this term is used to denote
all psychic phenomena, as they apparently have the same origin.
Psychic(al): relating to or denoting faculties
or phenomena that are apparently inexplicable by natural laws, especially
involving telepathy or clairvoyance.
Psychometry: obtaining information related to an
object through contact with or proximity to it.
Remote
viewing (RV): a
term coined by Star Gate (US government-funded program) researchers as a
substitute for clairvoyance.
Retrocognition: the ability to see past events
without previous knowledge.
Scrying: a form of divination by staring at
an object such as a crystal sphere, a flame, a screen, etc.
Telekinesis
(TK) = Psychokinesis (PK) = Mind over matter: the ability to move objects or change their
shape using only the power of the mind.
Telepathy: the direct communication of
thoughts or feelings from one person to another without using speech, writing,
or any other normal method.
